We all know the importance of fire resistant materials here – in a very serious way. But have you ever thought about fire resistant materials on your roof?

When it comes to materials you might want to replace, wood shakes and asphalt shingles fall into this category as they aren’t as fire-resistant as others, and unfortunatly asphalt shingles tend to be the most common roofing type.

If a wildfire is spreading nearby, flaming debris can float and land on a roof which can be incredibly dangerous if you have one of these two materials. Instead, you you may want to consider other roofing materials, such as terra cotta, slate, or any other type of metal or tile roofing. For the most part, a professional will be required because they will need the experience as well as the tools for the job. When contacting a contractor, they can even advise on which material to use.

Either way, the next time you need a roof, take this into consideration.
