Your bathroom is the moistest room in your house. For that reason, mildew and mold would love to grow in your bathroom, and they can grow very quickly. Mildew differs from mold primarily in that it grows on top of surfaces, while mold grows underneath the surface. Both are bad, but mold is especially difficult to get rid of. For that reason, it’s important to keep your bathroom in a condition that is as unfriendly to mold as possible.

The main way to do that is to keep your bathroom as dry as possible. As we mentioned, it’s the moistest room in your house, so it may not always be easy to do that. However, some simple things that might help include:

  • Washing and drying damp towels quickly.
  • Cleaning up water spills and puddles.
  • Repairing leaky pipes or plumbing fixtures.
  • Drying damp objects like rugs, wood, or wallpaper.
  • Running an exhaust fan for some time after each shower.
