Often on a home inspection I look into the sink and see a big crack (or even several cracks). But what does this mean? Is it serious?

In short: no, not really. Most of the time it is an old sink and the cracks are usually superficial in the porcelain. So what can be done about this cosmetic issue?

For one, the best and most obvious choice is to replace the sink. Sinks are normally inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. If replacing the sink isn’t in the budget or just seems unfeasible to you, there are many porcelain repair products that seal and mask the minot imperfections that the cracks make.
